Get straighter teeth with clear aligners that close gaps, correct overbites and straighten misaligned teeth. With minimal dentist appointments and results that can last a lifetime, these are just some of the benefits to using an Invisalign clear aligner over traditional braces, but what do you need to know before you book your consultation? In this article we’re getting in depth on Invisalign and how we at Springfield Dental can change your smile forever.

An Invisalign Aligner

So what is Invisalign?

An Invisalign aligner is often the most popular choice for teeth realignment over traditional braces, they’re made using a see through plastic allowing you to wear them throughout the day without them being noticed.

How it works

Your aligners are custom made to fit your teeth and gradually move and straighten your teeth over a period of 3-9 months, after your teeth have realigned we make you a custom retainer to be worn at night to maintain your new smile.

How we at Springfield Dental realign your smile

Sometimes these long term dental treatments can feel like a lot to take on, and with so much information out there, it can be hard to tell what actually happens when you want to get Invisalign treatment. Well we’ve broken it down into 3 simple steps so you know what’s involved and what we can do to realign your smile.

The three steps to smile realignment

Step 1: Consultation

This will be your first appointment with us where we assess your needs and decide on the best course of action. At this appointment we carry out a full oral health check to ensure your teeth are healthy and suitable for treatment.

We also take photos and scans or your teeth and talk about what treatment option would be to realign your smile. If we decide that an Invisalign aligner is the best choice, then we move onto step 2.

Step 2: Planning

At this stage we plan the movement of your teeth to ensure the best results over the following 3-9 months depending on how much realigning we need to do. From there we check that you’re happy with the treatment plan that our team has made for you. Finally after you give us your plan approval, we manufacture your Invisalign Aligners.

Step 3: Invisalign Fit

As the name suggests, this is when you get your Invisalign retainer! Through our careful planning along with the photos and scans we’ve taken, your aligners will fit neatly on your teeth and realignment can begin. We then send you home with 4 sets of your new aligners for you to change every 10-14 days. During the realignment period, we will have regular checkup appointments generally every 6-8 weeks to check the progress of your teeth’s realignment and provide you with new aligners.

Finally, after the realignment period ends we can remove your aligner and provide you with a retainer to wear at night to prevent your teeth drifting back to their original position. This ensures that your new, natural and perfect smile stays perfect.
