What is Composite Bonding?

Composite Bonding is an umbrella term for several treatments that involve the use of composite resin to enhance the appearance of your teeth. These treatments include;

Composite Edge Bonding, is the addition of composite to part of the tooth to change the shape or close gaps. This is blended in with your natural tooth and matched to the colour of your own teeth. Often this treatment is done following tooth whitening.

Composite Veneers, a popular choice by our patients. The composite is placed carefully across the front surface of the teeth, to create a straighter, whiter smile. Veneers can be used to change shapes, sizes and colours of teeth.

Composite Fillings, the use of composite resin to restore cavities and broken teeth.

The three steps to your brand new smile

So how does Composite Bonding actually work? Well we’ve broken it down into three simple steps outlining the general procedure!

Step 1 Consultation:

This will be your initial consultation appointment before treatment, we will carry out a full oral health check, looking for signs of gum disease, cavities, missing teeth or any other problems which must be sorted first. This appointment includes x rays, intra oral scans, full oral health check and treatment planning. We will then discuss your treatment options and create your customised plan.

Step 2 Whitening:

Our patients often have their teeth whitened before the composite treatment begins to help achieve the best results. Whether or not you get your teeth whitened is entirely up to you.

Step 3 Bonding:

At this stage you’re ready for the bonding treatment planned in your initial consultation. Depending on what treatment you’re getting, the process should generally take between 2-4 hours. Following the procedure you can walk out of our dental practice with a bright and brand new smile.
